Legal, privacy, et al

This site is run by the Estate of Salvatore Pecoraro to share and preserve Sal’s life and work. Use it to learn, teach, research, write, and make art. Please give credit, and don’t use the images to train AI. By using this site, you agree to these terms.

The Estate of Salvatore Pecoraro owns the copyright in Sal’s artwork and writings. Owning a painting, print, or sculpture by Sal doesn’t include the copyright: the right to reproduce it stays with the Estate unless that right was transferred in writing. Some photos, articles, and documents on this website belong to other people, and we credit them when we know who they are. Seeing something online doesn’t mean it’s free to use.

  • School, teaching, and research.
  • Articles, reviews, criticism, and news.
  • Non-commercial books, papers, and talks about art history.
  • Your own original artwork inspired by Sal’s (not copies or reproductions of his work).
  • Personal or nonprofit social media.
No need to ask first, as long as you give credit and use the low-resolution images from this site. This is a permission from us, not a transfer of any rights, and it ends for any use that breaks these terms. Nothing here limits uses the law already allows, such as fair use.
  • Anything you’d sell or that helps sell something (ads, merchandise, products, NFTs, or other digital collectibles).
  • Commercial books, films, TV, and exhibitions.
  • Prints, posters, or any other reproduction of Sal’s work.
  • High-resolution images.
  • Any use of Sal’s name, signature, or likeness (see below).
  • Use our images or text without credit.
  • Remove or change credit lines, watermarks, or the copyright information embedded in our image files.
  • Crop, recolor, or change images of the artwork.Suggest that the Estate supports you or your project.
  • Download the site in bulk or scrape it with automated tools (search engines are welcome; see AI).
  • Use images from this site to make, sell, or vouch for copies, or for works falsely credited to Sal.

Post the whole image, without filters or cropping, and include the credit line. Sharing our own posts with the platform’s share or repost button is always fine. Tag us at @salpecoraroartworks on Instagram and on our Facebook page, Salvatore Pecoraro Contemporary Painting and Sculpture.

Send an email via the Contact page and tell us:

  • Who you are and what the project is.
  • Which works or items you’d like to use.
  • Where they’ll appear, and how many copies or how big the audience is.
  • Your deadline.
  • The caption you plan to use.

Permission counts only when it’s in writing from the Estate (email is fine).

Feel free to link to any page. Please don’t show our pages inside your own site (framing).

You may use the text on this site to train AI, including for commercial AI. This includes bios, essays, descriptions, captions, and artwork details. If your AI tool quotes or summarizes us, please credit and link to SalvatorePecoraro.com.

No matter who you are or why, you may not use images of Sal’s artwork or our archival photos to:

  • Train or fine-tune AI models, or build AI datasets.
  • Make images “in the style of Salvatore Pecoraro”.
  • Use as reference or input images in AI tools, including to make variations, “restorations,” colorizations, or animations.

This is an express reservation of our rights, including the text-and-data-mining reservation recognized in the European Union. We also state it in machine-readable form in our robots.txt and in the copyright fields embedded in our image files.

Press clippings, quoted reviews, and writing by other people belong to their authors. We can’t give permission to use those for AI.

Search engines and image search are welcome. This section is only about AI training.

We sometimes use AI tools to help with research, summarize text written by a human, and clean up scans (removing dust and scratches, or enlarging small images). A human checks all of it. AI didn’t make any of the artwork, and it didn’t write our main texts.

We may change this policy later.

California law protects Sal’s name, signature, photograph, and likeness for 70 years after his death. Please don’t use them on products, in ads, or to suggest that Sal or the Estate endorses anything, without our written permission. Writing about Sal, news, and scholarship are, of course, welcome.

“Salvatore Pecoraro,” “Studio Campobello,” and Sal’s logotype identify the Estate’s work. Please don’t use them as the name of any product, service, or account.

The Estate documents the history of each work through its own records, Sal’s notes, and sales and exhibition history. If you have questions about a work’s history, or you own a work by Sal, we’d love to hear from you. We can credit you or keep you anonymous, and we never publish an owner's name or location without permission.

We work hard to get dates, titles, and details right, but mistakes happen. Send corrections via the Contact page. Original documents stay as they were, and any fixes go in our notes.

Information on this site, and anything we share by email, is for research only. It isn’t an appraisal, a certificate of authenticity, or a statement that any particular object is or isn’t by Sal. Being listed here, or not listed, doesn’t decide whether a work is genuine. The Estate gives formal opinions on authorship only under a separate signed written agreement.

If you’re offered a work said to be by Sal and something seems wrong, please tell us.

Effective November 3, 2026.

  • Things you send us: your name, email, and message when you use the contact form or join our mailing list.
  • Basic site data: pages visited, browser type, and general location, collected by our host (Webflow) for analytics.

We don’t take payments on this site.

We use it only to reply to you, send updates you asked for, and improve the site. We never sell or trade your information.

Only the services that run the site for us: AirTable (inventory), Webflow (hosting), Cloudflare (security), and Cloudinary (images). They handle data on our behalf and may set their own cookies.

The site uses a few cookies so it works properly and so we can see how it’s used. You can turn cookies off in your browser.

We don’t track you across other websites, and we don’t allow advertising networks to do so on our site. So the site works the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.

We keep messages and contact details only as long as we need them, then delete them.

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link and our mailing address. You can also ask us to show you, correct, or delete the information we hold about you. If you’re in the EU or UK, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. The site is run from the United States, and your information is stored there.

Many photos and documents show Sal’s students, colleagues, friends, and family. We include them because they’re part of the story. Before posting old documents, we hide private details like home addresses and phone numbers.

If you appear in the archive and would like your name changed or removed, or your image blurred or taken down, contact us. We’ll take every request seriously and try to balance your privacy with the historical record.

This site isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.

If we make a significant change, we'll update the effective date above and mention it in our next email to subscribers.

Available artwork is sold by inquiry, and every sale is confirmed in a written invoice. A listing on this site isn’t an offer to sell. Prices and availability can change, and colors on screen may not match the actual work. Sales are final unless the invoice says otherwise. Books sold through Blurb or other third party stores follow those sellers’ terms.

Buying a work gives you the object, not the copyright. You’re welcome to photograph it for insurance, your own records, or a resale listing.

Giclée prints are reproductions made from Sal’s original paintings; they are not original prints. Prints made after January 16, 2025 are posthumous editions authorized by the Estate. Each print comes with a certificate stating the title, medium, edition size, date made, and whether it’s signed or posthumous, as California law requires for fine-art multiples.

If you think something here belongs to you or violates your rights, contact us with:

  • What it is.
  • Where it is on the site (URL).
  • Why you think it’s yours.
  • How to reach you.

We’ll look into every complaint and take the item down if needed.

Have you seen Sal’s art used without credit, printed on products, fed into AI tools, or in a suspicious sale listing? Send us the link via the Contact page. Your reports help protect his work.

We share this site as it is. We can’t promise it will always be available, error-free, or complete, and we’re not responsible for other sites we link to. As far as the law allows, the Estate isn’t liable for any loss that comes from using the site.

These terms follow California law. Any dispute about them will be decided by the state or federal courts serving Santa Cruz County, California.

If a court finds any part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t act on a breach right away, we haven’t given up the right to act later.

We want everyone to be able to use this site. If something doesn’t work for you, tell us and we’ll try to fix it.

We may update this page from time to time. The date below shows the latest version. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
