Artwork → Era

The Branciforte Constructs carried into the new decade and grew, some running nearly six feet, and their success in giclée editions set the pattern for what came next. In December 2000 Pecoraro set out to repeat himself deliberately: 365 small paintings, one for each day of the new millennium’s first year. He made about a hundred by May, admitted the arithmetic was against him, and kept painting anyway — roughly 160 1st Encore panels in all, each carrying a lifetime of accumulated technique, including image transfers he had been refining since 1968. Thirty-six were reproduced as giclée editions, and a smaller group, the Santo Niño works, grew out of the same period. Then, on a trip to Santa Fe in 2003, an idea sent him back to sculpture, and he spent his remaining years stacking large marble, brass, copper, and glass beads over steel and copper armatures. He described the shift plainly: the end of Act 1, and the beginning of Act 2.
